Doing airbrush painting is really a lot of fun. Some people find it much more enjoyable than painting with an ordinary brush. With the use of an airbrush, you can do several things like creating art paintings, photo retouching, coating firearms, murals, hobby, make up application, temporary airbrush tattoos, airbrush tanning, finger nail art, clothing and automotive.

Modern day artist prefer using the airbrush in creating their artwork. For them, airbrushes can allow them to create highly rendered art work and a high level of realism. Artworks mode through airbrushing are mostly found on advertisements, different kinds of publication, comic books and graphic novels.

Airbrushing is also used for altering pictures. It was used before the digital image editing was prominent. Airbrushing was also used to hide model imperfection mostly on men magazines. When digital image editing was introduced, people resorted to doing retouches on the computer rather than manual airbrushing.

You can also use airbrushing to protect some parts of your firearm. There is a multi part product called Duracoat. To apply this, you need to use an airbrush, spray gun or HVLP. Some people also use an airbrush to give their firearms a custom look. Some artists also use an airbrush to paint murals.

People who are scale model enthusiasts use airbrush to add color because finer coats can be done like opaque colors, weathering effects, adding stains, etc. Since airbrushes have fine atomization, it can create color mixtures that are hard to create with an ordinary paintbrush. They also use the airbrush to customize radio controlled toys.

The use of the airbrush to apply makeup was 1st used in the 1925 version of the film, Ben-Hur. Since then make-up application resurfaced again at the time when Hi-Definition TV and Digital Photography used in the latest camera models can capture more detail than earlier times.

With the use of the airbrush with a liquid foundation, they can cover the area with out leaving uneven areas. Movies with special effects or Sci-Fi movies use this kind of makeup applications.

Temporary Tattoos can also be applied by using an airbrush. Some tattoo artist use stencils then spray the tattoo on the skin. It is also as good as a permanent tattoo, only painless and without discomfort. The thing good here , temporary airbrush tattoos only stay on the skin for about 1-2 weeks.

Some people want to tan their skin using airbrush tanning. Instead of staying under the sun that may cause too much pain and discomfort, people opt to use this method. The results are almost the same.

Airbrushing is also used in painting nail art. Some people use it to style real nails and synthetic nails which can be attached to a real nail.

One of the famous usages of the airbrush is art sprayed on clothing. Many shops offer custom painting on t-shirts with custom designs. Some shops also offer custom airbrush painting on items that can be applied with spray paint like jeans, denim jackets, leather apparel, pillow cases, and hoodies. Marc Ecko became famous because of his air brushed apparel.

Another famous usage of the airbrush is painting automobiles. This can be used for painting plain or original colors to automobiles. Some painters try to do some custom painting to their cars to add style.

Custom painted cars and motorcycles became famous because of TV shows that feature these custom painted automobiles. It is also good business for others, since custom paint jobs usually cost a lot.

These are the most common uses of the airbrush. It is not only for art usage but you can also use it in your daily life.

For The Love Of Hiking

My husband and I are always on the lookout for activities that we can do together that don’t require a whole lot of money, ie it’s cheap. Particularly in these economic times when our budget dollar is being squeezed from all directions it’s even more important to us than ever that we spend our money wisely.

We both have hobbies and activities that we pursue independently, but we were looking for something that we could do together as a couple. Neither one of us is interested in ballroom dancing, I’m into yoga and swimming, he’s into the treadmill and the elliptical, I’m into cross stitching and reading, he’s into online poker, and neither of us have an interest in the other’s hobbies.

We wanted to do something that we could pursue as a couple, that would get us out of the house and into the fresh air, and that didn’t cost an arm and a leg. Given that we live in a part of the country that has abundant forests and lakes we thought we’d try hiking.

It’s as if a whole new world has opened up to us! We started slowly, hiking for a couple of hours by visiting provincial parks within a two hour drive of our home and bought a seasonal pass to save on entrance fees. We discovered one park within an hour of home that offers five different trails over varying terrain with spectacular paths that meandered through forests, around small lakes, and through marshes.

We undertook our first few hikes wearing just our running shoes and comfortable clothing. It soon became clear though that we needed to upgrade our footwear to something other than regular shoes, so we waited for a clearance sale at a local sporting goods store and scored big time with half price purchases on sturdy three season hiking boots.

Over the summer our hikes increased in length until we were comfortable hiking for about four hours. We discovered trails we never even knew existed by going online and searching out trails within a two hour drive from home. One particular trails stands out as there were caves and caverns to explore along with both old growth and new growth forests in an area previously inhabited by a First Nation’s tribe, signs of which could still be found hundreds of years later provided you knew what to look for.

If you’re planning to do some hiking, do invest in proper footwear; your ankles will thank you. Buy a couple of stainless steel water bottles, lots of sunscreen and insect repellant as well as a first aid kit that includes a whistle, compass, bandages, and antiseptic. Buy a couple of backpacks that are big enough to carry a jacket, the items above and food such as sandwiches, granola bars and nuts, but make sure it’s not so big as to invite you to pack more than you can carry because after a few hours the weight will become very noticeable.

I highly recommend this as an activity that you can do together as a couple. We loved spending time together, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, in beautiful surroundings with only the sound of the birds, the insects, and the wind in the trees.
